Police search government building for source of alarm

Jefferson City, MO – Police are still investigating a possible hostage situation in an office
building across from the governor's mansion in Jefferson City.

Police say authorities got a call around 10 a.m. today from an alarm company that took a call from a woman who said there was a hostage situation on the fifth floor. But police haven't confirmed any hostages have been taken, and
don't know if it was a prank call.

Authorities are blocking traffic
in the area and officers with guns are positioned around the
building.

State employees were directed to remain in their offices with
the doors locked, and police have been gradually checking each floor and evacuating the
building.
