Lonedell, Mo. – St. Louis-area police are searching for a seven-day-old baby after a woman allegedly kidnapped her and slashed her mother's throat Friday.
The Franklin County Sheriff's Department says a woman entered a home in Lonedell and kidnapped Abby Woods after holding her mother at gunpoint. The woman then slashed the mother's throat and fled with the child.
Police say the mother is recovering in a hospital.
Police describe the assailant as a white female who is about five feet, eight inches tall and weighs about 200 pounds. They say she has dark hair and was wearing a gray or brown T-shirt and jean shorts.
The child has a birthmark between her eyes and was wearing a pink dress with a white collar.
