Potosi, MO – Officials at the Potosi Correctional Center in southeast Missouri are still trying to determine what set off an attack on three guards.
The names of those involved in Monday night's incident have not been released, and no charges have been filed.
The guards were attacked by a group of between four and ten men and were taken to a hospital, where they were treated for cuts and bruises and released. No prisoners were hurt.
Potosi is one of five maximum-security prisons in Missouri and is the only one that houses death row inmates, who are not segregated from the other offenders. It wasn't clear if any of the prisoners involved in the attack are on death row.
A lockdown at the prison was still in effect Tuesday night.
