Propane leak repaired in Franklin County

By AP/KWMU

St. Louis – Highway workers have reopened Route 100 in Franklin County after a propane pipeline ruptured Tuesday.

The leak forced residents of 70 homes near Gray Summit to spend the night elsewhere while the line was repaired.

A bulldozer being used in a highway widening project ruptured the Conoco Phillips pipeline, and the company paid for hotel rooms for evacuees.

Propane shot 50 feet into the air, and repair crews had to wait for the line to drain. They also monitored the air for potentially explosive levels of gas.
