St. Louis, MO – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is holding a public meeting in St. Louis tonight to discuss the future of the Missouri River.
The Corps is re-evaluating the river's uses, and how those uses are prioritized.
In Missouri, the river supplies drinking water to more than half the state's population and serves as a route for commercial navigation.
Missouri Department of Natural Resources spokesman Judd Slivka fears the study will favor the priorities of upper basin states. To make sure the assessment takes Missouri's interests into account, says Slivka, the Corps needs to hear from Missourians.
