Schnuck's, Dierberg's Recall Salmon

By Matt Sepic, KWMU

St. Louis – A Florida company is recalling packages of smoked salmon sold at St. Louis area Schnuck's and Dierberg's stores.

Some of them may be contaminated with Listeria, a bacterium that can cause serious illness.

The stores say some packages of Sea Specialties smoked salmon with sell-by dates of August 30th are part of the recall.

Listeria can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in children, the elderly and those with weakened immune systems. No
illnesses have been reported in connection with this recall.

Four, eight and 16 ounce packages of Sea Specialties brand salmon with a sell-by date of August 30, 2004 are affected.

Customers are urged to return the salmon for a full refund.

Customers with questions can call Schnuck's Consumer Affairs at (314) 994-4400, or visit the food safety section at schnucks.com.
