School Board Could Face Public Hearings

By Kevin Lavery, KWMU

St. Louis, Mo. – A committee of the St. Louis Board of Aldermen considered a resolution Thursday to hold public hearings on the St. Louis school board's actions in hiring the district's interim management team.

Third ward alderman Freeman Bosley, Sr. first introduced the resolution in June, claiming that four recently elected school board members discussed hiring Alvarez and Marsal before the new board's first public meeting.

But school board attorney Ken Brostron says there's documented proof that all the board's actions were made in the open.

The issues that are being raised now are issues that have been public, they've been discussed; we're now in a lawsuit and there's really no reason, I think, to go through another set of hearings on this, Brostron said.

A lawsuit filed against the school board regarding this issue is currently pending in St. Louis Circuit Court.
