St. Louis – The second of two former St. Louis police officers charged with stealing electronics from a suspect has pleaded guilty to a federal theft charge.
25-year-old Christian Brezill was on duty in July 2009 when he drove to a Phillips 66 station meet another officer who had received a tip that a woman at the gas station was in possession of thousands of dollars in electronics stolen from Best Buy. Brezill and the other officer, Ronald Jackson arrested the woman on minor traffic charges - she was never charged in connection with the theft, and the officers did not report they had seized the electronics, including an X-Box, a Wii, and computers. Brezill and Jackson then split the electronics, later selling some for cash.
The woman was cooperating with federal law enforcement officials.
Brezill will be sentenced in March; he faces 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. Jackson, 58, pleaded guilty to the same charge last week and will also be sentenced in March.
