Services scheduled for missing Chesterfield man

By Bill Raack, KWMU

St. Louis, MO – A memorial service will be held tomorrow for John Paul Forget, the Chesterfield man who jumped into the Missouri River ten days ago.

The Missouri state water patrol has been unable to find Forget's body yet, due to ice on the river. The 20-year-old was involved in a minor accident on Interstate 70 about 15 miles west of Columbia on December 16. He and his passengers were walking off the bridge when Forget apparently tried to jump out of the way of an oncoming tractor trailer.

A spokesman with the Water Patrol says it's unclear whether Forget leapt directly off the bridge, or tried to get up on the sides and slipped. Conditions that night were icy.

Tomorrow's memorial service for Forget will be held at St. Alban Roe Catholic Church in Wildwood at 11 a.m.
