The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Watch for St. Louis City and several Missouri counties, including Iron, Jefferson, Madison, St. Charles, St. Francois, St. Louis, Ste. Genevieve and Washington. The Tornado Watch is in effect until 11 a.m.

Meanwhile, a flood warning continues for the Mississippi River at Canton, Quincy, Hannibal, Saverton, Clarksville, Alton and St. Louis. The flood warning is a result of heavy rainfall upstream during the past 24 hours and additional two-to-three inches of rain in the forecast through this evening.

In St. Louis, the Mississippi was at 24.6 feet at 11:30 last night. Flood stage is 30 feet. The National Weather Service expects the river will rise above flood stage early tomorrow afternoon and crest near 38.4 feet Tuesday evening.
