St. Louis, MO – The overflow of rainwater has caused some raw sewage to leak into the Mississippi River and River Des Peres from overworked sewers.

A spokesman for the Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District says the overflow is unlikely to make anyone ill.

MSD has also fielded more than 500 calls about flooded basements and streets, as well as blocked drains.
