Shooting Near Northeast MO School Not Connected to School

By AP/KWMU

Shelbina, MO – The search continues for a man who shot another man near South Shelby High School in rural northeast Missouri this morning (Tuesday).

The shooting happened at around 7:30 about a mile-and-a-half north of the school.

Shelby County R-Four Schools Superintendent Tim Hadfield says that while students remain on summer break, football and softball players were practicing. They were ordered inside the high school while the search continues for the shooter.

Initial reports raised concerns of a school shooting. But patrol officials say the shooting has no connection to the school, which is located about 40 miles west of Hannibal on Highway 36.
