Jefferson City, MO – St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay is criticizing two fellow Democrats for ads they're running in every part of Missouri except St. Louis.
The ads are being run by Secretary of State Candidate Robin Carnahan and Lieutenant Governor candidate Bekki Cook.
They criticize the two women's opponents of supporting legislation in 2002 that would have let the state spend millions for a new ballpark. That legislation failed.
Slay says he supports Carnahan and Cook but that the ad crosses the line with its St. Louis bashing.
The ad specifically criticizes Republicans Catherine Hanaway (Carnahan's opponent) and Peter Kinder (Cook's opponent) for sponsoring the stadium legislation. It would have authorized the state to spend more than $600 million over three decades, with the bulk benefiting the St. Louis Cardinals, Kansas City Chiefs and Royals.
