Slay reminds St. Louis residents about heat warning
St. Louis, MO – St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay's office will send automated telephone reminders to residents about the dangerous heat forecast for the region this week.
The National Weather Service issued an excessive heat warning for the City of St. Louis and surrounding areas from noon on Monday until 8 pm on Thursday. High humidity in the region will push heat indices well above 100 degrees.
The St. Louis Department of Human Services will also be making phone calls to seniors and people with disabilities. St. Louis health officials suggested residents check on elderly family members and neighbors regularly.
Residents should bring pets indoors and try to limit time outside to the morning and late evening hours.
The Health Department also advises residents not to leave children and pets unattended in parked cars.
