St. Louis, MO – Saint Louis University will honor the late Buzz Westfall next month. The long-time County Executive, and SLU alum, died last month.

The school says it will posthumously award Westfall its Sword of Ignatius Loyola award. The honor is given each year to someone for service to humanity, a value of Ignatius Loyola, founder of the Jesuit order.

The university praised Westfall for supporting work-force development, establishing a shelter for battered women and children and organizing an event that has raised more than $1 million for children's hospitals in the area.

The award will be presented December 7. Westfall, who earned bachelor's and law degrees at the university, died October 27th.
