Granite City, IL. – Large clouds of smoke were visible for several miles because two city blocks caught fire in Granite City Monday morning.

Two large warehouses were engulfed in flames. One of the burning building is said to be more than a 100 years old.

Nearby roads and train tracks were shut down, including the Amtrak line. One person is reported injured.

The fire originally broke out Sunday night and was put out with the help of sprinklers, but it somehow rekindled.

The warehouse is a four-story building that houses metal products, such as scrap aluminum and other items.

Fire officials set up a firewall between the burning building and an adjacent tire warehouse.
