SNAP Says Priests Need Monitoring

By Matt Sepic, KWMU

St. Louis, MO. – The Survivors Network of Those Abused by Priests says five acknowledged child molesters are living unmonitored in St. Louis County.

The group alerted county police to the situation Wednesday.

SNAP's Barbara Dorris says the men are current or former priests, and they live in an archdiocesan retirement home in Shrewsbury.

"This facility is in a neighborhood with parks, with schools, and we feel that children are not safe here," Dorris said. "Parents need to be aware that there are molesters living in their neighborhood. They need to be given the chance to protect their kids."

Dorris says two of the men have been charged with crimes. Police arrested Father Robert Johnston last month on allegations of sexual abuse.

Prosecutors have charged the Reverend Thomas Graham with sodomy in a case dating to the 1970s.

The Archdiocese did not return calls seeking comment.
