St. Louis Conference on Child Abuse
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services reports that in 2001, 903,000 children were abused or neglected in the United States.
Those who work to prevent child abuse and neglect believe it could be the start of a new trend that follows a decade of gradual decline in the number of reported cases. This week, some 1,600 people are attending a national conference in St. Louis to talk about preventing abuse before it begins.
