St. Louis PR Firm Will Cut Ties with Los Angeles

By AP/KWMU

St. Louis, MO – The St. Louis public relations firm Fleishman-Hillard says it will no longer work with the City of Los Angeles amidst intense public scrutiny.

The firm has multi-million dollar contracts with city's harbor, airport, and water and power offices that will be terminated within months.

Federal officials have subpoenaed company documents as it looks into the way the city agencies award contracts. The officials want to know whether city officials forced businesses to make campaign contributions in exchange for winning contracts; a practice called "pay to play."

The contracts are estimated to be worth more than $3.6 million.
