St. Louis radio host injured in electrical accident

By AP / KWMU

St. Charles, MO – KLOU-FM host Paul Arca says he thought he had been hit by lightning.

He was riding in the van when its raised boom hit the wire. The van caught fire, but Arca and the driver were able to
escape.

Arca is recovering at home. He was initially taken to a St. Charles hospital. The driver was not injured.

Fire officials say the two were leaving a golf show, where they had been broadcasting, and forgot to take down the boom. The line hit the boom -- and the van -- with 7,400 volts of electricity.

The incident Saturday caused a power outage at the Convention Center and Embassy Suites Hotel.
