St. Louis, MO – A dozen organizations that care for St. Louis' homeless population will share an $8-million federal grant to continue their missions. Monday, US Department of Housing and Urban Development officials presented a check to St. Louis mayor Francis Slay, city leaders and advocates for the homeless. The grant amounts to nearly eight times what HUD gave the city last year to address the issue. Acting HUD field office director Fannie Woods credits the city team that drafted the proposal.
The money will be used for such programs as permanent housing and employment services.
