St. Louis Symphony Extra - May 5, 2012

The St. Louis Symphony continues its 2011-2012 season this weekend, and you can be right there with them from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, May 5.

On select Saturday evenings, St. Louis Public Radio broadcasts the Symphony's performance over the air, bringing you a live classical music experience wherever you are.

(And here's a look at next season's broadcast schedule!)

Here's what's in store for you this weekend:

GLINKA Ruslan and Lyudmila Overture
RACHMANINOFF Piano Concerto No. 3
BEETHOVEN Symphony No. 5

And here's a quick audio sneak-peek:

Happy listening at 90.7 FM on air or online here! You can also follow along with our host, Robert Peterson, as he live tweets the broadcasts at@RobertPeterson3. Use the hashtag #slsoLIVE to chat about the broadcast as it's happening and talk with other Symphony broadcast listeners before and after the performance.

Peter Oundjian will conduct the Symphony in their performance (a late-notice replacement for Rafael Frühbeck du Burgos due to ill health), with featured artist Stephen Hough on piano.

You can follow along with the broadcast yourself with this version of the same program symphony-goers have in the seats at Powell Hall. (below)

During intermission, we interview key symphony performers and special guests. Listen to past interviews by subscribing to our St. Louis Symphony Extra Podcast. To subscribe, copy and paste the link below into iTunes or, to listen to individual episodes, click on the link to view in your browser.
