St. Louisans Head to D.C. to Protest War

By K. Lavery, KWMU

St. Louis, MO – Thousands of Americans are converging on Washington D.C. this weekend for a massive peace march, and to speak out against US military action against Iraq. As many as 500 Missourians are joining the demonstration, including members of a St. Louis-based group known as the Instead of War Coalition. Coordinator Bill Ramsey says a war against Iraq will cost America both in lives lost and funding for programs that would cut to pay for a military campaign.

Many of the activists will return in time to take part in a march in downtown St. Louis celebrating the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday on Monday.
