State Announces New Abduction Alert System

By AP/KWMU

Jefferson City, MO – Governor Holden signed an executive order
Monday creating a statewide system to alert the public when a child is abducted.

The alerts, sometimes referred to as Amber Alerts, dispatch descriptions and other details about missing children.

In a typical case, the information is then carried on radio and television stations.

Holden says five state agencies and other private groups will work together to improve and expand the system, which will be coordinated by the highway patrol. It also will be used for other statewide emergencies.
