St. Louis, MO – About 31,000 Ameren customers are still without power this morning (Tuesday, as of 9 a.m.) after storms that moved through the region Monday night.
Most of the outages are in north St. Louis County, including in Hazelwood, as well as in St. Charles County.
Students at UM-St. Louis will not have class Tuesday; the campus is closed because of the power outage.
Lambert Airport was still running on back-up power Tuesday morning; some parts of the airport are without power and some flights were cancelled.
Travelers are being told to call their airlines before leaving home to see if their flight is affected.
REPORTS OF DAMAGE
In Jennings, a tree nearly crushed a house. A woman was in the bedroom of the home when the tree came crashing down, but she wasn't hurt. The house, though, appeared to have serious damage.
In St. Charles, high winds caused a tree to fall onto a home. Residents had taken shelter in the basement as the storm approached, so nobody was injured.
