St. Louis, Mo. – U.S. Senator Jim Talent, of Missouri, says the latest resolution submitted to the U.N. Security Council will help strengthen the case for war against Iraq.

Britain drafted the document, which says Saddam Hussein has missed his final opportunity to disarm peacefully. Talent says Iraq's defiance of weapons inspectors is obvious.

"People ask me 'Are we going to get a smoking gun?' And I think the
problem is, there are thousands of smoking guns," said Talent "There are so many smoking guns that none of them in particular stand out."

Britain has not given the 15-member security council a deadline to vote on the resolution. It needs nine votes to pass.

Talent adds the United States has the support it needs, but another resolution will help strengthen the Western alliance.
