Talks between Boeing, union stall

By St. Louis Public Radio

St. Louis – Negotiations between Boeing and the union representing employees at two of its plants have stalled, nearly two days before the union can start walking picket lines.

The company and the International Association of Machinists District 837 have met twice this week with a federal mediator, but no new talks are scheduled. Union members build C-17s, F-15s, and F/A-18s, as well as missiles. They want to keep a traditional pension plan for new hires.

Boeing said in a statement that the company made some changes to its contract to address workers' concerns. A company spokesman would not give details.

A union spokesman had no comment. Members are authorized to strike at 12:01 am Friday.
