Tax evasion plea for St. Louis businessmen

By AP/St. Louis Public Radio

ST. LOUIS –

Two brothers who operate several St. Louis businesses have pleaded guilty to tax evasion charges.

Federal prosecutors said Thursday that 62-year-old William Bialczak and his 49-year-old brother, Kenneth, both pleaded guilty to two felony counts. Sentencing will be Dec. 3.

The brothers are equal partners in St. Louis Metropolitan Towing, Parks Auto Sales and S&H Parking Systems. The U.S. Attorney's office says the businesses generated large amounts of cash from operation of parking lots in downtown St. Louis, vehicle sales and a towing operation that includes a contract with St.Louis police.

As part of their plea, the Bialczaks admitted that in 2005 and 2006, gross receipts for their businesses were underreported by about $1 million.
