Teen Pleads Guilty in St. Louis Officer's Death

By AP/KWMU

St. Louis, MO – A teenager pleaded guilty Tuesday to second-degree murder in the death of a St. Louis police officer. Stepphion Sutton had been a passenger in a stolen car.

Officer Michael Barwick was killed in a crash while pursuing that car. Sutton faces up to life in prison.

The 19-year-old switched his plea to guilty in the death of Officer Michael Barwick. Sutton made no deal with prosecutors for a reduced sentence.

Barwick died last August in a fiery crash as he and his partner chased a stolen Chrysler Sebring occupied by Sutton, another teenager and four juveniles.

Authorities said later that the blue car was among about 30 Chryslers stolen in the area in the previous week.
