Teens, Parents Underestimate Availability of Drugs

St. Louis, Mo. – St. Louis is the debut site for a series of new ads that target the rising usage of methamphetamine and ecstasy among teens.

Todd Vetter is a pediatrician in Fenton who is part of another aspect to the campaign. Vetter says he'll try to spread the word in his job about the drugs but adds office visits won't be that much different.

"Hopefully later on there will be more involvement with the schools and other community outlets to get the message out, but for right now we're focusing on the media," he said.

The Partnership for a Drug-Free America says the new ads also try to inform parents who are largely in the dark about just how widespread meth and "X" are becoming.
