St. Louis – A St. Louis police officer has been sentenced to more than two years in prison for stealing money during drug raids and lying about it to superior officers and federal investigators.
Bobby Leo Garrett is the third former officer from the department's crime suppression unit to be sentenced in the corruption case. He and detectives Leo Liston and Vincent Carr stole money from a purported drug courier in September 2007, then failed to report they had stopped the individual and seized money.
The officers also stole money during drug raids on June 6th and 11th, 2008, and lied on police reports to cover their actions. The officers also falsely arrested and charged an individual during the June 6th raid in a further attempt to cover their crimes.
In addition to the prison sentence, Garrett will have to pay restitution.
