Three Shot Dead at Factory in Jefferson City

By AP/KWMU

Jefferson City, MO – Police in Jefferson City say a manufacturing plant employee shot and killed three co-workers late Tuesday night and injured several more.

The suspect was later killed near a police station not far from the state Capitol Building.

Police Chief Roger Schroeder says the dead man is the only suspect in the shooting and had been employed at the Modine Manufacturing plant. Police say the suspect is a 26 or 27-year-old man from nearby Holts Summit, but they haven't released his name.

Schroeder says two Modine employees died at the plant. A third died at a hospital.

Police say an officer confronted the suspect in a truck outside police headquarters. The suspect opened fire, but it's unclear if the officer's bullet killed him or if he shot himself.

Schroeder isn't commenting on the injured, who were apparently found throughout the building.
