Transportation Commission Sets New Funding Formula

By AP/KWMU

Jefferson City, MO – St. Louis area planners are disappointed with a new state transportation funding formula that they say jeopardizes key projects. Friday the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission approved a plan that would cut the St. Louis region's annual allocation from about $330 million a year to $290-million.

St. Louis Regional Chamber and Growth Association president Dick Fleming says the action will affect such projects as the Page Avenue extension and improvements to Highway 40.

The state is now waiting to see how much money it could receive from a new federal transportation bill expected in the next 18 to 24 months.
