Two Firefighters Hurt After Jumping from Burning House

By AP/KWMU

St. Louis, MO – Two St. Louis firefighters are being treated at Saint Louis University Hospital after they were forced to jump from the third floor of a burning house.

It happened today on the city's north side. Authorities say the firefighters weren't certain if all of the home's residents were out, so they went in to check.

On the third floor, the men were trapped by flames and had to jump. One firefighter broke both legs. The other injured his back.

Neither injury is considered life-threatening.

None of the home's residents were hurt. The house was destroyed, and a neighboring vacant building was damaged as well.
