UM-Columbia Still Wants to Fill Ken Lay Professorship

By AP/KWMU

Columbia, MO – The University of Missouri says it still wants someone to be the Ken Lay Economics professor.

Lay endowed the teaching position at UM-Columbia, his alma mater. He grew up in the southern Missouri town of Tyrone.

But the teaching position has never been filled. Lay faces charges related to the fall of Enron, which he founded.

The professorship was financed by selling Enron stock donated by Lay in 1999. Asked about the status of the position, the university said Thursday it's important to let the judicial process run its course before taking any action.
