St. Louis, MO – As chancellor, Tom George is leading the University of Missouri-St. Louis through its largest-ever fundraising campaign. Now, the university is getting a big financial boost -- from George himself.
The university announced today that George and his wife, Barbara Harbach, are donating $2 million to support students and programs in the university's College of Fine Arts and Communications. College of Fine Arts Dean John Hylton says the gift will be used for the Women in the Arts Initiative.
Harbach is a music professor at UMSL and George is an accomplished jazz pianist who often performs on campus and at community fundraisers. They arrived in St. Louis in 2003 from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
