St. Louis – Washington University in St. Louis has received one of the largest gifts in its history.
John. F. McDonnell and the JSM Charitable Trust have donated $60 million to the school, much of it with no strings attached.
McDonnell was chairman of the McDonnell-Douglas aircraft company. He retired in 1997 after the company merged with Boeing.
He's been a university trustee for more than 30 years.
