Jefferson City, Mo. – Authorities spent the weekend searching for a 16-year-old boy who was shackled when he jumped from a bridge into the Missouri River.
But now the Missouri Water Patrol says the search has become a recovery mission.
The patrol says Robert Nichols never resurfaced and he is presumed dead.
Nichols jumped off the bridge in Jefferson City Friday after escaping from a car taking him to the Montgomery City Youth Center.
The water patrol searched until about seven Sunday night.
