St. Louis, MO – A 41-year-old man is suing a former priest and the St. Louis Archdiocese over sexual abuse he says he endured for two years in the 1970s.
Matt Layton, of Webster Groves, says he was abused by Joseph Ross, but only recalled it in March. Layton says he was an altar boy in 1975 at St. Williams Church in suburban St. Louis when the abuse began.
Ross was removed from the priesthood this summer after working most recently at St. Cronan Catholic Church in St. Louis. The archdiocese says it's reviewing the lawsuit before commenting.
