Weldon Spring Plan for Water Has Critics

St. Charles County, MO –

Since 1986, the U.S. Department of Energy has led a massive cleanup radioactive materials left over from 25 years of weapons manufacturing at the Weldon Spring site in St. Charles County.

Most of the work is complete, but residual groundwater tainted with a variety of contaminants remains. Now, the Energy Department is proposing a groundwater plan that it says will protect human health.

But as KWMU's Kevin Lavery reports, some say the plan leaves too many unanswered questions.
