Swansea, Ill. – There's no school again today (Tuesday) for the nearly 900 students in the Wolf Branch school district in the Metro-East. Teachers went on strike last week, a day before school was to begin.
No new talks have been planned between the school district and teachers union. The district in Swansea includes two schools.
An attorney for the district said Monday that the board has given the union its last and final offer. School officials also say the district does not plan to add makeup days to the school calendar after the strike is resolved.
The impasse has been over teacher pay.
