Edwardsville, Ill – Two men have been accused of harassing the family of a campaign worker in what's become an increasingly vicious race for the Illinois Supreme Court.
Edward Kay is the finance chairman for Illinois Supreme Court Republican candidate Lloyd Karmeier.
Kay alleges that two Carbondale consultants visited his ex-wife's house to intimidate his family.
The consultants have called the lawsuit "frivolous" and say they were investigating Kay on behalf of a group they represent that opposes Karmeier.
The lawsuit is the latest turn in the race between Karmeier and Democrat Gordon Maag for the Illinois Supreme Court Fifth Judicial District.
Some expect campaign funding in the race to break Illinois records.
