Jefferson City, MO – Governor Matt Blunt has chosen Zel Fischer to fill a vacancy on the Missouri Supreme Court.
Fischer currently serves as a circuit judge in Atchison County, which sits in the far northwest corner of Missouri.
He was elected to that post as a Republican in 2006.
Prior to that, Fischer spent 14 years as an attorney in private practice, and has argued two cases before the State Supreme Court.
He was chosen over Lisa White Hardwick and Ronald Holliger, both of whom sit on the Western District Court of Appeals.
Fischer will replace Stephen Limbaugh, who recently filled a vacancy on the federal U.S. District Court in St. Louis.
