Graphic designer Bryony Gomez-Palacio’s world revolves around design. She and her husband, Armin Vit, founded UnderConsideration—a graphic design firm and publishing enterprise all rolled into one. They also created the influential design blog UnderConsideration and are the authors of four books on design.

Bryony Gomez-Palacio and University of Missouri-St. Louis Associate Professor of Design Jennifer McKnight were Steve Potter’s guests on “Cityscape.”

Priscilla Queen of the Desert - The Musical

The first national tour of Priscilla Queen of the Desert - The Musical has made its way to the Fabulous Fox Theatre in St. Louis.

The musical features a trio of friends who take a road trip aboard a battered bus throughout the Australian outback. Along the way, the three drag queens from Sydney encounter episodes of discrimination and heartbreak.

Priscilla Queen of the Desert - The Musical opens with “It’s Raining Men” and has other disco favorites, as well as songs such as “Material Girl” and “MacArthur Park.”

When Deborah Nelson Linck, curator of the Hands On Black History Museum, found a collection of antique photos of African Americans at a mall last summer, she bought them - both out of novelty, and awe.

It was rare for her to find antique photos of black people in such ordinary settings - off to war, with friends, standing next to new cars - like she did for other races, and she knew that there was something to be done with her discovery.

In early 20th century Paris, Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque were equally well known after they created the Cubist style of painting. Today, Picasso is a household name while Braque is virtually unknown outside of art history circles.

Washington University’s Mildred Lane Kemper Art Museum puts the spotlight on Braque with the opening of the exhibition ‘Georges Braque and the Cubist Still Life, 1928–1945.’

Social Media Topic Of HotCity Theatre’s World Premier

Social media continues to shape the way people communicate and go about life.

A new production by HotCity Theatre called “Connected” focuses on the contemporary subject of social media (Twitter, Facebook, interactive gaming, etc.) and why, despite constant connectivity, many people still feel so alone.

Host Steve Potter talked with playwright Lia Romeo, director Chuck Harper and Caitlin Mickey, who plays the roles of Meghan, Sarah and Sharon.
