Lobbyists pick up tab for World Series tickets for Mo. lawmakers

A new filing with the Missouri Ethics Commission shows that lawmakers from across the state had good seats for the Cardinals' championship run, courtesy of corporate lobbyists.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported Friday that lobbyists spent about $13,500 taking elected officials and their family members to World Series and playoff games at Busch Stadium.

The report shows that those accepting free tickets included state senators and representatives, St. Louis aldermen and St. Louis County Council members.

Hundreds of thousands attend Cardinals victory parade, rally

Hundreds of thousands of fans gathered in downtown St. Louis on Sunday to celebrate their World Series champs at a Cardinal victory parade and rally.

Cloudy skies and the occasional drizzle didn’t discourage the fans, who thronged the parade route along Market Street.

They cheered and snapped pictures as the Budweiser Clydesdales went by, followed by Cardinals team members and marching bands from area high schools.

Cards win World Series, beat Texas 6-2 in Game 7

 

The St. Louis Cardinals won a remarkable World Series they weren't even supposed to reach, beating the Texas Rangers 6-2 in Game 7 on Friday night with another key hit by hometown star David Freese and six gutty innings from Chris Carpenter. Freese was later named as the 2011 World Series Most Valuable Player.
