A St. Louis County grand jury has indicted Shelby Dasher, ruling there is probable cause to try her for second-degree murder in the death of her 13-month-old son.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that the grand jury handed up the indictment Wednesday. The attorney for Dasher has entered a not guilty plea on her behalf.

The attorney for the Affton woman accused of killing her 13-month-old son is seeking dismissal of the murder charge.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that public defender Tara Crane filed a motion Monday seeking dismissal of the second-degree murder charge against 20-year-old Shelby Dasher. Crane also asked for bail reduction if the murder charge is not dropped. Dasher has been jailed on $500,000 bond since Nov. 16.

A St. Louis County judge has entered a not guilty plea on behalf of Shelby Dasher, the young mother accused of killing her 13-month-old son because he wouldn't stop crying.

The 20-year-old Dasher made a brief court appearance Thursday during which the judge also assigned the public defender's office to represent her.

Dasher was charged with second-degree murder on Wednesday, a day after she reported that her son, Tyler, was missing from his crib.

Four people have been shot to death in what police are calling an apparent domestic incident in the St. Louis suburb of Affton.

The shootings happened Friday morning.
