Charges filed in fatal St. Louis hit-and-run

A 29-year-old man is charged with obstruction of justice in the hit-and-run accident that killed a woman crossing a downtown St. Louis street.

Madison County, Ill., prosecutors filed the charge Monday against 29-year-old Eric Peterson. He does not yet have an attorney.

23-year-old woman walking in downtown St. Louis struck, killed

St. Louis police are searching for the driver of a car that struck and killed a woman downtown.

The accident happened about 2 a.m. Friday on South Broadway. 

Police say 23-year-old Amber Wood was crossing the street when she was struck by a silver or gray Pontiac Grand Am or Grand Prix with Missouri license plates. A 29-year-old man with her was also struck and is hospitalized.

The vehicle took off after the accident. Wood was pronounced dead at the scene.
