Less than a week into 2011, St. Louis theater goers have two brand new productions to take in, both St. Louis premiers.  We had the chance to preview both today on Cityscape.

The design team selected to reconfigure the 91 acres surrounding the Gateway Arch is refining their concept. The team is expected to present a more detailed plan next month.

A design jury selected the concept created by Michael Van Valkenburgh Associates in late September.

Now the MVVA team has 90 days to refine that vision and create a more detailed plan to present to the public early next year.

Dennis Sparger, Music Director and Conductor of the Bach Society of Saint Louis, stopped by CITYSCAPE to preview the 60th Christmas Candlelight Concert at Powell Hall on Tuesday, December 21st when internationally acclaimed soprano Christine Brewer joins the chorus and orchestra in three works.   

Temple Emanuel, a reform Jewish Synagogue in Creve Coeur, is currently hosting an exhibition of black and white portraits of Albanian Muslims. The men and women in the photographs helped save the lives of nearly 2,000 Jews who fled to Albania during WWII. David Weinberg tells the story of a place where something called "besa" or “word of honor” is a way of life.

Film critics in St. Louis are getting a jump on the foreign journalists that decide the Golden Globe award winners. While the nominees for 2010 Globes will be announced tomorrow, the St. Louis Film Critics have announced their list today.
