On the latest edition of the Politically Speaking podcast, St. Louis Public Radio’s Jason Rosenbaum and Jo Mannies welcome Republican U.S. Senate candidate Austin Petersen to the program.

Petersen is one of 10 Republicans, so far, vying for the U.S. Senate in Missouri, a field that includes Attorney General Josh Hawley. The winner of that GOP primary will almost certainly square off against U.S. Sen. Claire McCaskill, a Democrat seeking a third term in office.

Last month we spoke with two St. Louis businessmen who completed a Bitcoin transaction worth $3,000; Michael Huber of Paradigm New Media and Vance Crowe of Articulate Ventures. Crowe is a proponent of the digital currency, and wants to see St. Louis emerge as a forerunner in the field.

St. Louis is building a reputation for being a home for innovative businesses. But this week, innovation of a different sort took place - an innovative business practice. 

Instead of swiping a credit card or depositing funds into a bank account, Paradigm New Media paid Articulate Ventures the equivalent of $3,000 in Bitcoin, a digital currency.
