Missouri GOP hopefuls barnstorm across Show-Me State in a bus

Most of the Republican nominees for statewide offices in Missouri are touring the state together in a bus today and Wednesday.

The first stop was outside the GOP’s campaign office in Jefferson City.  Those onboard this morning included Lt. Governor Peter Kinder, who's seeking a third term in office; Secretary of State hopeful Shane Schoeller; Attorney General nominee Ed Martin; Congressman Blaine Luetkemeyer, whose district will include Jefferson City next year; State Treasurer nominee Cole McNary; and the Republican hoping to oust Democrat Jay Nixon from the Governor’s office, Dave Spence.

Metro raises fares

Bus bridge in effect this weekend on some MetroLink routes

Construction at the UMSL South station will lengthen some commutes on Metro this weekend by 20-25 minutes.

MetroLink trains will run on a single track between the Wellston and North Hanley stations on Friday, causing 5-10 minute delays on the Red Line.

Residents can weigh in starting today on proposed fare increases for mass transit in St. Louis. The Metro transit agency is considering three options for raising fares this year – one would increase only the costs of weekly, monthly and university semester passes; the second would raise the cost of all passes except day passes; and the third would spread the increase to all fares, including buses and Metrolink.

Vandals force cancellation of classes in Collinsville

Students in the Collinsville Community Unit School District 10 got an extended winter break this year after vandals flattened tires on the school buses that transport students.

Maureen Richmond, a spokeswoman with First Student Inc.,  says a maintenance man entered the bus lot around 5am Friday to begin pre-trip maintenance on the fleet. He discovered that at least one tire on all of the nearly 80 buses on the lot had been flattened. It was not clear if the tires were slashed or simply deflated.
